Biodegradable additives can be included in the material at the extrusion stage. For UK manufactured carrier bags, this is usually Polybatch DEG 68 additive. This results in carrier bags beginning to break down as soon as they are exposed to sunlight or temperatures over 70 celsius as in composting situations. |
